Node.js, the String that Ties Data and Devices Together
There are currently 5 billion connected devices and that will increase tremendously over the next few years. The need (and continued need) to connect these devices is extremely important, and Node.js is the perfect technology to make this happen. Notes Juan Carlos Soto from StrongLoop (an IBM company) in this video.
Established in 2013, StrongLoop builds open source and commercial software aimed at the enterprise using Node.js. Building with Node.js allows organizations of all sizes to rapidly create new mobile and cloud-based apps, microservices, and APIs to integrate and securely deliver high volumes of data and services to power their mobile, rich web, and Internet-of-Things (IoT) solutions.
The company became a part of IBM in 2015. At the time, both companies were members of the Node.js Foundation. Within the video, Juan Carlos also covers the importance of starting the Node.js Foundation, and his hopes for the Foundation in the future.
Juan Carlos is not the only person who sees the major potential Node.js will have in the IoT space. Other Foundation members — PayPal, npm, and Joyent — also discussed the potential of the technology, within IoT in this video.
